Service: Garden Redesign Brief: Family-friendly garden, entertaining space, play area, English country planting, year-round interest

Following significant damage caused by a neighbouring property's subsidence, the clients took the opportunity to rethink their garden entirely. With three young boys, the space needed to work hard for family life, providing room to play while still offering attractive areas for relaxing and entertaining.

The design introduced an all-weather lawn space and robust raised beds that could withstand energetic games of football, alongside a new dining area positioned beneath a pergola at the end of the garden. Festoon lighting creates a warm atmosphere in the evenings, extending the garden's use long after sunset. A floating bench seat in the middle of the garden allows the client to enjoy moments of calm amongst the planting. To soften the structure and bring year-round interest, we introduced an English country-style planting scheme featuring pleached trees, lavender, climbing roses and clematis. The result is a practical and welcoming garden that balances the needs of a young family with a relaxed, characterful planting palette.
